I finally finished this stole that I had been working on for nearly a year, off and on. The pattern came from the Spring 2010 issue of Interweave Knits. It is called Facing Lilies Stole and was designed by Nancy Bush. The series of bobbles look like Lily of the Valley flowers. At first I found the bobbles difficult to make but soon got the hang of them. After the body of the stole was finished I had to pick up stitches all around the edge on one circular needle. I really needed a longer needle but managed to do it despite the stitches being bunched up. It would take me an evening to do two rows around of the 14 row edging!!!
All in all I am pretty pleased with my results and have sent it off to the lucky recipient. I hope she likes it.
I used a heavier yarn than Nancy Bush did but am happy nonetheless with the results. Hers is more open and light. I used some merino yarn that I bought on a cone from Graham Dawe back in 1987. Thank goodness I have used that cone up. So there is hope that I might actually get through the stash before I graduate and go to heaven!
Really beautiful, Paula. We are seeing the lily of valleys poking their little monk heads out of the soil. The design shows those little nodding heads well.
